This double life of office workers differed depending on rank and gender. On the other hand, the rank that responded that the appearance inside and outside the workplace was ‘almost similar’ was ‘deputy manager or higher manager level (34.8%)’ followed by ‘employee level (21.8%).’
Depending on gender, ‘women (49.3%)’ responded that their appearance inside and outside of the workplace was different compared to ‘men (36.4%).’
‘Clothing and hairstyle (24.7%)’ was cited as the area where the duality of office workers was most evident. However, working life while hiding one’s true self was causing various side effects.
When asked about the side effects that arise due to a different side of me at work, the largest number of people (28.7%) responded, ‘I have doubts about whether I have to do it this way’, followed by ‘I end up behaving the same way outside of work as I do at work (17.5%)’, and ‘My original personality and ‘I get irritable because I can’t show my emotions (16.8%)’, ‘There are times when I’m confused as to which is my true self (15%)’, ‘There are times when my true self suddenly appears and I feel embarrassed (14.4%)’, ‘Forced facial expressions and The answer followed, ‘My facial muscles hurt from laughing, etc. (7.7%).’
Meanwhile, it attracted attention as it was shown that whether an office worker leads a double life varies depending on the level of satisfaction with work life. 45.2% of respondents answered, ‘The higher the satisfaction with work life, the more similar things are inside and outside of work.’ Only 24.5% of respondents answered that ‘satisfaction with work life and dual life do not have a significant impact.’
