In my last post, I talked about how to use Samsung Pay. However, even if you register your card in Samsung Pay, you cannot use the transportation card service right away. Before using the Samsung Pay transportation card, you must activate the NFC function. If you pull down the notification bar at the top of your smartphone, there is an NFC icon. (NFC: Near Field Communication)
Double-click the NFC icon. Then it will be set to card mode. If set to the default mode, data sharing is possible, but unnecessary vibration may occur.
Now launch the Samsung Pay app. Click the … menu button at the top left.
Click Transportation Card.
Choose between Cashbee and T-money transportation cards. There is no difference between the two brands, but many people use the T-money transportation card a lot.
Payment methods include deferred payment, prepayment, and mobile phone payment.
Deferred payment is available only for credit cards that have a postpaid transportation card function. It is a format in which the card fee is charged for the amount used. Shinhan, KB Kookmin, Samsung, Hana, Hyundai, NH Nonghyup, and BC cards are supported. The advantage over other payment methods is that there are no fees. Therefore, we recommend deferred payment. After clicking Postpay, select a card that supports deferred payment transportation card among the cards registered as Samsung Pay cards, and agree to the terms and conditions to complete registration.
Prepaid cards can be used with any credit/debit card that has a postpaid transportation card function. Shinhan, KB Kookmin, Samsung, Hana, Hyundai, NH Nonghyup, and BC cards are supported. A fee of 1.7~2.5% occurs and must be charged before use.
Under Payment method, click Prepay. Select the card to recharge.
A window for entering the amount to be charged will appear. Enter the amount to be charged.
After entering the amount, the following settings appear. You can make choices about how you charge.
In the case of automatic recharge, if the amount is less than the set amount, the specified amount is automatically recharged. For example, if the amount is less than 5,000 won, 10,000 won is automatically recharged.
In the case of a charge notification, a notification comes when the amount is less than a certain amount.
Mobile phone payment is a method in which the amount charged to the mobile phone bill is charged every month. A 6% fee is charged, so it is recommended to avoid using it if possible. The charging method is the same as prepayment. Please refer to the above.
Lastly, the amount of transportation card use is tax refunded at the end of the year, so be sure to set it as an income deduction.
* Note
If you purchase a used phone, if the initial service provider and the current carrier are different, you cannot use the Samsung Pay transportation card. In other words, if the first carrier is SKT, but you are using LG U+ carrier, you cannot use the transportation card function.
