This system, introduced in 2022, is implemented to raise awareness of energy consumption conservation and to alleviate the burden of electricity bills through the voluntary participation of residential customers. This is a system in which residential electricity users who apply for participation receive the current basic cashback and newly established differential cashback according to the standard when electricity consumption is reduced. The business period runs from July to November 2023 during the rate reflection period. The application period is applied from the month in which the application date falls. If you applied in June, it will take effect immediately from June. Cashback will be paid if you achieve a minimum reduction rate of 3% of the electricity you have used so far, or if you achieve more than the average of participants in the same region. The maximum reduction rate was limited to 30% because the level of power consumption that could be reduced at home was considered, and the reduction rate was set at 30% to prevent excessive payment of cashback when the reduction rate is extremely high due to long-term business trips or travel. It is set as an upper limit standard.
1. Access the Korea Electric Power Corporation Energy Cashback site.

2. When accessing the site, the following screen appears. Please click the sign up button in the upper right corner.
If you click Membership Registration, you will be asked to select individual households and co-management entities, and you can select individual households here.

3. Click Apply below and verify your identity. The only way to verify your identity is to verify your phone number. Please refer to the next screen. After authentication, enter basic information in Energy Cashback.

4. After entering your identity and information, click Sign Up for Cash Back. If you have completed all of these steps, your application is complete.
Calculation method
Savings (kWh) = Average usage for the same period for the past 2 years – Usage during the period of reduction activity
Savings rate (%) = Savings during the applicable period ÷ Average usage over the same period for the past 2 years × 100 Average reduction rate of participants = Sum of savings during the applicable period of participants in the same region / Sum of average usage during the same period over the past 2 years of participants in the same region × 100
※ If there is only the amount of power used in the past year, it is calculated based on the amount of power used in one year

If the minimum reduction rate of 3% and the average reduction rate of participating apartments in the same region are achieved, a flat rate is paid for each section according to the amount of savings achieved. (However, the amount of savings is calculated at the maximum reduction rate of 30%) In order to prevent duplicate payments for savings results, the amount of savings for households receiving cashback in the relevant apartment complex is subtracted and calculated. Depending on the participation period, the payment amount for each section is calculated on a monthly basis.
