Those eligible for payment are Gwangju citizens who are active-duty, supplementary-duty, or alternative-duty soldiers who will be enlisting from September 1st and who have registered as residents in Gwangju City for more than one year as of the date of application for the subsidy.
The application deadline is from the date of receipt of the enlistment notice to 6 months after enlistment (calling up). You can apply by visiting the administrative welfare center in your jurisdiction with your ID card and enlistment notice.
The subsidy of 100,000 won will be paid in Gwangju City’s local currency and can be used at any local currency place within 5 years from the date of payment.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “We expect that the enlistment support fund will encourage young people who fulfill their national defense duties and at the same time help revitalize the local economy through the use of local currency.”
