구글 2단계 인증 설정 해제Compared to other platforms such as Naver, hacking attempts from abroad seem to occur frequently on Google. There are additional two-step verification methods such as OTP apps, security keys, and backup codes, but two-step verification through basic Google messages is essential as a minimum safety device to prevent account hijacking.
Sign up for Google 2-Step Verification
1. Click “Manage Google Account” at the top right of the Google site.
2. Select “Security” menu on the left and select “2-Step Verification”.
3. Click “Get Started” to register for 2-Step Verification.
4. Check the devices that will receive Google messages upon login, then click “Continue”.
5. Add a backup option to be used in case the phone is lost. Enter a backup phone number to receive problem messages/phone calls and click “Send”. Alternatively, click “Use other backup options” to save the backup code to be used for backup before proceeding. In the main text, proceed by registering a backup phone number.
6. Enter the verification code of the text message received as the backup phone number.
7. Finally, after confirming the contents of the 2-Step Verification settings, click “Enable” to finish.
Using Google 2-Step Verification
1. When you log in with an account for which 2-factor authentication is set up, the 2-step authentication progress screen appears. If you want a different authentication method, click “Try another method” to select and proceed with the authentication method you want.
2. Follow the two-step verification instructions to open the app, and a Google identity verification pop-up will appear. Click “Yes, that’s you” to complete the two-step verification, and you can see that you are logged in normally.
Disable Google 2-Step Verification
1. Click “Manage Google Account” in the upper right corner of the Google site.
2. Select “Security” menu on the left and select “2-Step Verification”.
3. Click “Disable” to proceed with disabling 2-factor authentication.
4. Confirm that 2-Step Verification is displayed as “Disabled” and has been properly disabled.

Before setting up Google 2-step verification, I often received access alerts from other countries, but after setting up Google 2-step verification, the frequency has decreased to the point that I don’t remember receiving security mails. So far, I am satisfied with the current security level, but if the number of secure emails increases in the future, I will have to consider additional 2-step security settings such as Google OTP. Personally, it is inconvenient to install an additional app such as OTP and run it every time I log in, so I hope it settles into 2-step authentication through Google message 😂
