The bus driving qualification test is introduced to prevent safety accidents and improve bus transportation services by securing the expertise and improving the qualifications of bus drivers.
There are currently 132,000 bus drivers, of which 123,500 are exempt from the qualification test.
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs announced that approximately 15,000 people, including 8,400 employed drivers and 6,600 people scheduled to be employed, are expected to take the first test since February 2, the day after the promulgation of the Passenger Act revision.
Drivers who wish to engage in the driving duties of commercial buses (city, rural, village, intercity), charter buses, or special passenger vehicles (funeral vehicles) must meet the detailed driving aptitude test standards already in effect.
Additionally, you must pass the bus driving qualification test conducted by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to obtain a license.
This year’s bus driving qualification test is scheduled to be conducted once a month, a total of 5 times, hosted by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.
Applications for the first test will be accepted from July 30 to August 5, and the qualification test will be held simultaneously in 13 regions, including Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, and Daegu, on August 12.
In-person applications will be accepted at the Transportation Safety Authority’s 13 regional application locations from July 30 to August 3, and online applications will be available at the Transportation Safety Authority’s Bus Driver Qualification Test website (http://bus) from July 30 to August 5.
