The sports course voucher is a system that has been implemented by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation since 2009 to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents from underprivileged families by helping them engage in healthy leisure activities and expanding opportunities to participate in sports.
In 2023, about 106,000 people enjoyed voucher benefits in the range of 95,000 won per month. In 2024, 100,000 won per month will be provided to 120,000 low-income children and adolescents, and 110,000 won per month will be provided to 20,000 disabled people, increasing both the target and amount of support.
We will begin simultaneous nationwide applications for 2024 sports course passes from November 8 to November 30, 2023. Since recruitment is not on a first-come, first-served basis, you only need to apply within the application period.
Children and teenagers aged 5 to 18 can receive support if they are recipients of basic livelihood assistance, are in the second-lowest income bracket, are legally single-parent families, or are victims of crime. In 2023, the monthly subsidy was 95,000 won, or 1.14 million won per year, but from 2024, the subsidy was increased by 5,000 won per month, making it possible to receive a total of 60,000 won more per year.
Not only low-income youth but also people with disabilities can apply for sports classes. Persons with disabilities can receive 110,000 won per month for one year and benefit from a voucher worth 1.32 million won per year. In particular, the target age for sports course vouchers for the disabled was 18 to 64 years old until 2023, but the target age was expanded to 5 to 69 years old from 2024 to strengthen welfare for the disabled. Persons with disabilities can apply using the Disabled Sports Course Pass website.

As the eligibility for sports vouchers for the disabled has been expanded from 18 to 5 years old, children and teenagers with disabilities used general sports vouchers until 2023, but they will be converted to sports vouchers for the disabled starting next year.
In other words, children with disabilities who were using an existing sports class voucher must re-enroll with a disabled sports voucher and request registration with a disabled voucher at the sports facility they previously attended.
