If you use a smartphone, you may run out of storage space because it is full. If you check it, you can see that KakaoTalk takes up an unexpectedly large amount of capacity. So today, I’m going to tell you three ways to reduce the capacity of KakaoTalk. There are my own tips that no other place tells you, so if you keep that in mind, it will be convenient for you to manage your capacity in the future!
1. Manage each chat room capacity
The first way I’ll tell you is to reduce the amount of KakaoTalk by erasing files stored in each chat room. There are several chat rooms on KakaoTalk, but there are actually only a few mainly used chat rooms. Therefore, most of KakaoTalk’s capacity is concentrated in a few chat rooms. Therefore, reducing the size of certain chat rooms that often send and receive photos or files can greatly increase the overall storage space.

First of all, please choose some of the most active chat rooms as I mentioned before. And as you can see above, press the menu tab in the top right corner of the chat room.

Then, the chat room settings tab will appear as above. You can enter the settings by selecting the cog icon on the bottom right here.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the settings menu, you’ll see the screen above. There will be a menu that says “Manage chat room capacity,” and you can delete photo files, video files, voice files, and regular files separately. You can also delete all files by selecting “Delete All Files.” I’ve already deleted it, so I don’t have much capacity, but this alone can increase my storage space a lot.
Note: If there is any important information that needs to be used in the future among the photos or files exchanged, we recommend that you save them separately and back them up before deleting them.
2. Delete photos and video files in the chat room drawer
The next way I’m going to introduce you is to reduce the volume by deleting files in the chat room drawer. This is a method that erases the entire data in a particular chat room, so you might be a little reluctant to use it in a chat room where you’ve shared a lot of important information. However, you can selectively reduce the size of photos, videos, and files by organizing the talk drawer.

First of all, you can choose the menu with three dots on the rightmost side from the bottom menu of KakaoTalk. Then, you will see a variety of selection icons as above, and please select “draw” from among them.

If you go into the Talk drawer, there is a menu called “Chatting Room Drawer” as shown above. It includes notes, photos, videos, files, and links. Most of them are photos, videos, and files, which take up a lot of space. So go to the Photos, Videos, and Files tab, select a specific photo, and press the Delete button.
Cons: It’s good to selectively delete parts, but it’s a little cumbersome because you have to select and delete photos and videos one by one.
3. Delete cache data
The last way I’ll tell you is to delete cache data. It’s the most popular way to reduce KakaoTalk capacity and increase storage space on your iPhone. It’s the simplest, and it’s a good way to do it without having to delete photos or videos. However, it doesn’t reduce KakaoTalk’s capacity effectively because it can only reduce a small portion of its total storage space.

First, select the cog on the top right on the main screen of Kakaotalk, and select “Full Settings” to see the screen as above. Here, you can scroll down to the bottom and select the “Other” menu.

If you go into the “Other” menu, there is a menu called “Manage Chat Window Capacity” at the top. If you go into the menu, you will see a screen that tells you the free space of the device and allows you to delete the cache data. Here, you can delete the cache data and delete the music cache data.
Advantage: Even if cache data is deleted, photos, videos, and voice message files remain the same.
Today, we’ve learned three ways to reduce the capacity on KakaoTalk. As a user of an iPhone, I often feel that I don’t have enough storage space.
