쿠팡이츠 와우할인Coupang Eats will sequentially end Coupang Eats Mart services in Seocho-gu and Gangnam-gu from the 29th to the 1st of next month, reducing its operating area. In addition to the two regions that will end this time, the previously operated regions of Songpa-gu and Gangdong-gu will continue. In the industry, it is believed that Coupang Eats is seeing a significant increase in users as the WoW discount has expanded, so it has entered an operation adjustment period to focus on stabilizing the WoW discount and temporarily downsized Eats Mart.
According to Mobile Index on the 28th, Coupang Eats’ monthly active users (MAU) last month recorded 3.85 million, an increase of about 440,000 from the previous month (3.41 million). Coupang Eats’ MAU began to increase slightly from 3.03 million in April to 3.23 million in May and continued to rise for three consecutive months until July.
In a market situation where users are increasingly leaving delivery apps after COVID-19, Coupang Eats succeeded in increasing the number of users by overcoming the crisis with the ‘Coupang Wow Membership’ benefit. The industry believes that the Itsmart operation area, which has been attempting various pilot operations to focus on stabilizing WoW discounts in the future, has entered a period of adjustment.
Through the notice, Coupang clearly expressed its intention to expand again, saying, “We have decided to announce this reduction in order to provide more diverse benefits and services to our customers. We will notify you if we expand the service again in the future.”
Meanwhile, Coupang started the ‘Coupang Eats 10% discount program’ for WoW membership members at the end of April, and has expanded it to Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, and Daejeon following Seoul and the metropolitan area. It is evaluated that the cost-effectiveness effect of reducing the burden of delivery costs on top of inflation, with the advantage of being able to receive discounts without a limit on the number of orders, has led to an increase in customers.
