Basically, even if you do not watch KBS, if you have a TV, you have to pay a subscription fee. If you do not have a TV, you can apply for cancellation. There are two main ways to apply, and we will look at how to apply for each method.
1. Korea Electric Power Corporation Customer Center
Since the reception fee is charged along with the electricity bill, call the Korea Electric Power Corporation customer center at 123 to cancel.

When the agent connects you, if you say you want to cancel the license fee, ask whether you have a TV at home, ask for your address, name, and contact information.
In the case of Korea Electric Power Corporation, only up to three license fees can be refunded, so if you want a refund for a period longer than that, you must apply through the KBS Customer Center.
2. KBS Customer Center
You can get a refund by connecting to the customer center and calling the customer number written on the electricity bill or giving your address.

Basically, there is a TV, but if you do not pay the license fee and possession is confirmed, you can collect a surcharge for one year. However, in practice, it is less effective because there are almost no cases in which a person visits the house to check whether or not he or she is in possession of the license fee after applying for suspension of payment.
In my case, there was a period in the past when I applied for cancellation and did not pay the license fee because I did not have a TV. However, after about 2 years, it was charged, so I had an experience of applying for cancellation again.

National Basic Livelihood Security Recipient: A watercraft owned by a recipient specified in the National Basic Livelihood Security Act
Men of National Merit: Courses held by disabled persons according to the Act on the Grace and Support of Men of National Merit
Person of Independence Merit: A water award held by a person of independence or his or her surviving family according to the Act on the Treatment of Independence Persons of Merit
Hearing-blind: A television set owned by a family registered with the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs where a hearing-impaired person lives.
5.18 People of National Merit: A watercraft owned by a disabled person according to the 5.18 Democratic Merit Preservation Act
If you fall under the above exemptions, you can apply for exemption through the KBS license fee call center at 1588-1801 or www.kbs.co.kr. In addition, exemption may be granted in the following cases.
A watercraft that has been pledged and is in the custody of another person
Seaplanes confiscated or being seized by national flag agencies
Among the seaplanes installed for the purpose of business, seafarers for which no application has been made due to suspension of business for more than one month
If the monthly power consumption of the place of business is 0 kilowatts, the seaplane installed at the place of business
Residential power receivers owned by households with electricity consumption of less than 50 kilowatts per month
A receiver owned by a person living or located in a hard-to-see area where it is impossible to watch all or part of a broadcast
