The Seoul Metropolitan Government recently launched ‘Abandoned Animal Safety Insurance’ with DB Insurance, and decided to implement a safety insurance support project for companions who have adopted abandoned animals. This insurance guarantees liability for treatment costs, including skin diseases and oral diseases of animals, treatment for injuries, and damages caused to companion animals owned by others or others.
If you adopt an abandoned animal, you can sign up for free and receive insurance benefits for one year. From this year, insurance coverage has been expanded not only to abandoned dogs but also to abandoned cats.
Abandoned animals can be adopted at a total of 13 institutions/organizations, including the Seoul Animal Welfare Support Center operated by the city and animal protection centers and adoption centers operated by autonomous districts, or public-private partnership abandoned animal adoption centers. Busan City also provides free pet insurance for one year when adopting an abandoned dog. The city has secured a budget of 60 million won this year for this purpose, and plans to support about 400 people this year. Changwon City is also running a project to provide pet insurance for adoptees of stray dogs for one year.
Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, decided to promote a temporary protection project for abandoned animals. It contains the contents of sanitary management of some of the animals under protection at the shelter for abandoned animals whose notice period has passed by seven animal consignment management companies in the region where temporary protection business is desired.
In addition, for adoptees of stray dogs, along with adoption gifts from the Dog Association, the city of Sokcho supports expenses necessary for medical treatment and grooming within a limit of 150,000 won. Inquiries about participation in the project and adoption can be made to the Animal Protection Management Team of the City Agricultural Technology Center.
Jeongeup City, North Jeolla Province, has decided to provide adoption congratulatory gifts worth KRW 200,000 to all citizens who adopt abandoned animals starting this year. The congratulatory gift is an adoption kit consisting of organic feed, snacks, a moving box, and a cushion. Any Jeongeup citizen who adopts an abandoned dog from an animal shelter in Jeongeup City can apply, and the application period is until September 30th.
Gyeyang-gu, Incheon City decided to support adoption fees of up to 250,000 won per animal to those who adopted abandoned animals from the Gyeyang-gu Animal Protection Center this year. Details of support costs include built-in animal registration fee, treatment fee, treatment fee, vaccination fee, neutering surgery fee, beauty fee, and pet insurance subscription fee.
In the case of dogs and cats, you must complete the internal animal registration before you can apply for the subsidy.
