First, I will tell you how to back up mobile KakaoTalk conversations. Click the KakaoTalk Show More icon to enter settings. Then select chat.

So here we have a backup of the conversation at the top. Conversation/media backup is still a beta service. You can store your KakaoTalk conversations, photos, videos, etc.
Because it takes a long time, I will use general conversation backup as an example in this post. To back up all KakaoTalk data, please proceed to Back up conversations/media.
Chat backups can only be restored if they are reinstalled within 14 days. Touch Conversation Backup to save the current conversation.

Then, the conversation is backed up. Conversation/media backup will take a long time. Conversation backup may fail while in progress, so be sure to check the completion message.

When you reinstall KakaoTalk or install it on a new phone and run it, permission is requested. Please grant permission and log in with the Kakao account you used to start KakaoTalk.

If you have backed up your history, you will see that there is conversation backup data. Then, you can easily restore KakaoTalk conversations by touching the restore button. Enter the password you set when backing up and touch OK.

This will start restoring conversation data. If you back up media as well, it will take a long time. Once all conversation contents have been restored, touch the Start Chat button and you will be able to use KakaoTalk again with the chat room and conversation contents you used before.

Now, I will tell you how to back up conversations on the PC version of KakaoTalk. When you reinstall the PC version of KakaoTalk, all your conversations will be lost, so we recommend backing up if you ever need to format your computer or reinstall the PC version of KakaoTalk. Click the More menu and click About or Settings.

Look at the Chat menu in Settings. If you scroll to the bottom, there is a function to back up conversations. Instead, the PC version backup currently only backs up text. Click the Backup conversations button and set a password.
Be careful about backing up the conversation
It says that the PC version can be restored at the time of authentication. It is time to reinstall KakaoTalk on your PC and log in. The conversation restoration deadline is within 14 days, and after the deadline, the backup data is automatically deleted, so make a backup at the time of reinstallation.

If you have newly installed Windows or reinstalled and run the PC version of KakaoTalk on a new computer, you must authenticate with your phone to use the PC version of KakaoTalk. When you log in with the Kakao account you used, a message appears saying there is conversation backup data. Click the Restore Conversation button.

Enter the password from when you backed up and click the Restore button. If you forget your password, it cannot be restored.
