Kia announced the release of an electric vehicle this year. At the Kia EV Day held in Shanghai, China on March 20 (Mon), the EV5 concept car, which will be the key model, was unveiled. “We plan to launch the EV6 and EV5 in China this year and the EV9, Kia’s flagship SUV next year,” said Kia CEO Song Ho-seong.

The EV5 is a mid-size SUV that is smaller than the recently unveiled EV9, and mass production is scheduled for November this year. However, it is a Chinese strategic type and is not released in Korea. Concept EV5 is a model that presents an innovative mobility life with a future-oriented design and sophisticated interior design.

The design of the front part was inspired by constellations and applied a new digital tiger face, and the eye-catching combination of the front hood and bumper boasts a strong and confident charm.

Kia presented its unique and sophisticated design, including sensuous digital lamps, diamond-cut wheels, and aero spoilers.

The Kia EV5 uses a docking concept sliding console that can be used by both first and second row passengers. The swiveling seat, table and deck space in the trunk provide a unique design. By presenting the utility of an SUV, we are giving practicality to those who like camping. Kia is poised to grow into a brand that will win the hearts and minds of Chinese customers with high expectations, he added.

In the interior, the seat and console are connected as one, which enhances the practicality of the space and creates a comfortable atmosphere. The stylish and eye-catching design is a large size that combines a digital bulletin board and display into one. Also, eco-friendly materials were used.

Based on Kia’s design called Opposites United, E-GMP, a platform dedicated to electric vehicles, was applied.

The design of the Concept EV5 emphasizes versatility. It is designed so that you can sit next to the first row seats and the console like a bench. The first and second row seats can be rotated 360 degrees and there is a large trunk space. The use of space is designed in various ways, and convenience is enhanced by using sliding consoles with a docking concept for both the first and second rows. The armrests and seat are made of 10 eco-friendly materials, including bio-polyurethane and recycled plastic. The interior material also did not use animal skin.

Charging ports are on both sides. The side line is straightforward and has a design that leads to the side LED line. The size is similar to the Sportage. When you open the trunk, the table rises. It’s a style that can be seen in Rolls-Royce and Beltley, but Kia made it stylishly.

The price must be designed for less than 57 million won to receive 100% subsidy.
