Did you know that purchasing SRT standing room tickets is not only possible on the same day? Once sold out, only a certain quantity can be sold. And did you know that you can reserve tickets a week in advance for sold-out trains? It’s great news that standing room reservations are possible!
There is also something called a love sharing seat. These seats are known to be available for purchase if disabled seats are not sold 45 minutes prior to train departure. Not only can you purchase on-site, but you can also purchase through an app or at a kiosk. But don’t forget to factor in travel time to the station!
How to reserve tickets when SRT tickets are sold out
Waiting for reservation
If you are purchasing SRT tickets and your desired date and time are sold out, don’t worry. There is a waiting system so you can still reserve your seat.
The reservation waiting system was established on March 10, 2020, and is a system that allows reservations exceeding 10% of the total number of seats.
For example, if the total number of SRT seats is 100, you can reserve up to 110 seats. After receiving a reservation, the 10 people exceeded will be placed on a waiting list, and if a cancellation occurs, priority will be given to these 10 people.
However, depending on the reservation waiting order, an alarm sounds at 9:00 a.m. the next day, and payment must be made by 24:00 midnight on the same day. If you do not pay after midnight, you will move on to the next step.
Therefore, if you have applied for a reservation, please be sure to adhere to the payment deadline. That way you can secure a seat.
The reason you don’t have to worry about seats being sold out is because there is a reservation waiting system. Now, when you’re planning a trip, you won’t be afraid of booking SRT tickets, right? 🙂
Purchase non-reserved seats (link)
Many people will know that, unlike KTX, SRT does not, in principle, allow standing. However, due to numerous complaints, SRT will sell up to 15 standing seats per train from March 17, 2022.
Therefore, we would like to inform those who wish to purchase non-standing seats that this is now possible on SRT. However, please be careful when reserving tickets as the SRT 690 train does not sell standing tickets.
You can now purchase non-reserved seats on SRT, making travel more convenient. However, popular trains may sell out quickly, so please make your reservations quickly.
How to reserve a section
First of all, we would like to inform you that if the ticket is sold out, there is no official way other than waiting for a reservation. But don’t worry, there is a way to get around it!
First, you need to check two conditions. First, is it a journey of more than two segments? Second, is there a ticket that can be reserved between the arrival and departure points? If these two conditions are met, bypass reservation is possible.
So how can I make a bypass reservation? You can reserve a ticket for the nearest destination and then ask for a section extension from a station attendant on the train before arriving at the nearest point. The important thing here is that you must first request a section extension before arriving at the nearest branch where you made your reservation. Please keep in mind that if you make a request after passing through the nearest branch where you made a reservation, you may be charged a 50% surcharge for fraudulent boarding.
You might be a little anxious when SRT tickets are sold out, but don’t worry, you can make bypass reservations using the method above. Because the most important thing is to enjoy your trip!
Love Sharing Seat
Do you know about the ‘Love Sharing Seat’? This seat is designed to allow disabled people to use it more comfortably.
However, these seats are not generally sold and will be available for purchase by the general public unless disabled seats are sold 45 minutes before the departure of an SRT train. And at this time, you can check and purchase through the app or the window kiosk, so be sure to use it!
However, if you want to use it in a hurry, you must wait 45 minutes in advance and confirm. In that case, it is a method of purchasing tickets that creates a lot of tension as you do not know whether the ticket will go on sale 45 minutes in advance or not. However, if you know this method, you can use it more conveniently because you don’t have to buy it on site!
Standing ticket precautions
A standing ticket is one of the convenient options for those using public transportation. However, there are some precautions you should be aware of before using it.
First, you must have your original ticket with you as ticket checking will be conducted inside the car. Please note that photos or screenshots cannot be used.
Second, returns are only possible at station counters. Please note that phone returns or internet returns are not possible.
Third, if a ticket is lost, it cannot be reissued, changed, or returned. Therefore, please be sure to keep it carefully.
Lastly, you cannot use a special room with a standing ticket. Please keep this in mind as well.
If you carefully follow the above precautions, you can use the standing ticket more conveniently. Have a nice trip!
