1. Why a card specifically for overseas travel is essential
In the past, when I went on an overseas trip, I would exchange my money at a nearby bank, or when I was in a hurry, I would exchange my money at Incheon Airport.
However, if you exchange money directly like this, you will have to pay a fee and you will not be able to exchange money right away when the exchange rate is low, which is very inconvenient.
Now, if you use a card specifically for overseas travel, you will not pay any fees at all, not only for currency exchange fees, but also for payments made abroad.
If you are not yet using a card specifically for overseas travel, be sure to use the Travellog or Travel Wallet card introduced this time to reduce travel expenses.
2. What is the difference between Travellog and Travel Wallet card?
What the Travellog and Travel Wallet cards have in common is that both cards do not charge currency exchange or overseas transaction fees.
So what is the difference between the two cards?
There are many differences, but I think the biggest difference is the difference in withdrawal fees.
Travellog does not charge withdrawal fees when withdrawing money overseas, regardless of the amount.
However, Travel Wallet charges a 2% fee on the amount exceeding $500 if you withdraw more than $500 per month.
(Applicable only when withdrawing money from an ATM. Fee X for card payments)
Paying a 2% commission just for withdrawals is a very wasteful thing.
This is a very burdensome fee, especially in countries like Japan where cash is used more than cards.
Therefore, in countries where a lot of cash is used, it is better to use Travellog rather than Travel Wallet.
Of course, Travel Wallet does not have only disadvantages compared to Rogue.
Please refer to the table below for differences other than withdrawal fees.

You can check the differences between the two cards carefully and apply for the card that is right for you.
(I mainly travel to Japan, so I use Travellog, which does not charge withdrawal fees.)

4. What to do if you lose your card
Losing your card while traveling abroad can be quite embarrassing.
If you use Travellog, you don’t have to worry.
This is because even if you lose it, you can temporarily suspend card use right from the app.
Please refer to the photo below for how to pause.
How to temporarily suspend the use of the Travelogue card
How to pause
After requesting a temporary suspension, once you find your card, you can immediately cancel the suspension and use it.
If you cannot find your lost card, you can have it reissued after returning to the country.
5. Precautions when using Travellog
5.1 If you pay more than the charged amount, you may be temporarily suspended.
If you pay more than the amount charged to your card, the transaction may be deemed suspicious and your card may be temporarily suspended.
(Please check the amount loaded on your card frequently.)
When paused, a KakaoTalk or phone call will be received on the registered mobile phone.
If you do not receive a reply or call, you will not be able to lift the pause, so please make sure to answer.
5.2 If you make a refund after making a payment overseas, the refund will be in Korean Won.
If you receive a refund after completing payment overseas, the refund will be in Korean Won, not the currency of the country.
(The exchange rate at the time of refund applies.)
Therefore, please note that if you exchange money in Korea when the exchange rate is low, you may incur losses when refunding.
5.3 Having some cash is essential
Be sure to keep some cash on hand in case something unexpected happens while traveling abroad.
If you trust your card and lose it, you may be very upset.
Especially in Japan, where many people travel these days, there are many places where cards are not accepted, so be sure to withdraw a certain amount of money in cash at an overseas ATM.
